“The country is not facing with an enemy as equipped as Iran which keeps its tanks in line but an enemy which has ultra-modern artilleries, an enemy whose tactic is to keep distance and hit,” Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said and added that the army has prepared itself in a way to adapt with such situation.
Talking to Jamaran News Base, General Pourdastan said that the armed forces used to shout this slogan “Army, Revolution Guards, God’s Two Divisions”. But t
he solidarity pioneered by army commander martyr Sayyad Shirazi led the armed forces to shout “Army, Revolution Guards, God’s Sole Division”.
“This solidarity and unity helped us to reach targets during the (Iran-Iraq) war,” the commander stressed.
Referring to
Imam Khomeini’s emphasis on discipline in the army, General Pourdastan recalled that Founder of Islamic Republic of Iran used to say that army was bad not because of its discipline rather being a pawn of the former (Pahlavi) regime.
Imam Khomeini, he said, also emphasized that the army should remain independent and stay away of any parties, groups or political factions.
"He [Imam] said that army must act based on the Constitution, be religious and move in line of Velayat-e Faqih (Islamic jurisprudence)
," Pourdastan added. “Imam insisted that the army must be self-sufficient and supply its needs.”
Referring to
priorities of the army, the commander noted that remaining in full defensive and war preparedness is the army’s main priority.
He added that defensive preparedness means differently under different conditions.
“The war situation needs its own special preparedness but the region has entered a new phase after the 9/11 and presence of foreign troops in the Middle East,” Pourdastan said, adding that the type of preparedness has changed as a result.
According to him, Islamic Republic Army also understands this situation and prepared itself based on such needs.
“The country is not facing with an enemy as equipped as Iran which keeps its tanks in line but an enemy which has ultra-modern artilleries, an enemy whose tactic is to keep distance and hit.”
The commander said that the army has prepared itself in a way to adapt with such situation.
“As a soldier and member of Islamic Republic’s Army, I say to the noble nation of Iran that do not worry about fuss and threats of Obama and Israel because they are not capable to be a threat to our nation under the current circumstances,” the commander said.
“American and Israeli forces are in crisis now and be sure that we are at the peak of preparedness and prowess,” he stressed.
Pourdastan said that the army would not ignore spying the enemies, improve its war preparedness and would not let any invasion against Iran to occur.
