“He was a pious man. His fatwas are in compliance with Islam and Koran,” said Sheikh Mustafa Malas, a member of Lebanese Islamic Scholars Assembly.
“Imam Khomeini was truly imam (leader) of unity,” he told Jamaran News Website on the sidelines of Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran
Imam Khomeini invited the Muslim world to unity in the throes and after the Islamic Revolution, Sheikh Malas said, adding that slogans initiated by him such as ‘neither west nor east, just Islamic Republic’ and ‘Neither Sunni nor Shia, just Islamic nation’ were indications of that invitation.
“All these slogans were initiated during Imam Khomeini era,” Malas noted.
The scholar described Imam Khomeini an honest human who had no appetite for power.
“He was a pious man. His fatwas are in compliance with Islam and Koran,” said Sheikh Malas.
